In the Naked Court

Full Confession v. Blanket Denial

Order for Internal Probation

Lior

Lior arrived at the advocacy center at fifteen to report sexual abuse by his uncle. Out of that painful disclosure emerged another reality: Lior, abused by his uncle, had also sexually harmed his younger brother.

He found himself fractured between victim and offender, blurring clear definitions of guilt. Raised in a household plagued by violence, poverty, and an absent father, no adult had protected him.

We navigated two painful axes: taking responsibility for his actions while his own victimization went unacknowledged. Lior spoke the truth during interrogation, whereas his uncle lied - making it easier to prosecute the truthful youth undergoing internal work than the denying offender.

Before three judges who recognized his progress, Lior received probation and a suspended sentence rather than incarceration. The ruling rested on his willingness to accept responsibility without excuses.

Years later, Lior reconnected to confirm his records were expunged. They were. Intergenerational trauma, severe as it is, need not dictate destiny.
